The hubs and I really wanted to do a weekend trip away for our anniversary but we just had too much other stuff going on and coming up to make it happen. So instead, we decided to do a staycation at Universal’s Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and it ended up being the best anniversary weekend we could have hoped for!
Since TJ and I had our first date at Universal Studios it made complete since to revisit the park for our anniversary. I mean we are annual passholders so it’s something that we get to do all the time but it’s a different experience when you’re staying on-site at one of their amazing hotels! I think my favorite part was the water taxi to the park! Since we can go to the parks anytime, we did Halloween Horror Nights as something different. I planned far ahead and bought our tickets in May which really paid off because we got a deal for buy one night, get a second night free! We used night one for our anniversary weekend.
I hadn’t been to Halloween Horror Nights since I was twenty-one (and lets just say that was a few years ago…) and all I remembered was how frightened I was. There may have even been a few tears! But this time I was more prepared for the scare zones and I fully emjoyed the whole night! We actually only did one haunted house that Friday night because it’s Florida and October is still hot most of the time so TJ was dying with the crowds and heat. So I offered up a way to get some A.C. by visiting the Wizarding World! It was pure perfection. The hubs got his A.C. and I got to wander around an almost empty Diagon Alley at night!
We spent the first part of Saturday recovering in bed (ok, it was me) because the drinks were flowing all night Friday. But once we kicked it into gear, we found ourselves poolside for some delicious cocktails and a surprisingly yummy lunch! We kept saying how awesome it was that this is in our backyard and how we really need to take advantage of it more often.
Once the sun started to set we headed upstairs to get ready for our anniversary dinner. We took the shuttle over to the Loews Portofino Bay to eat at their little mom and pop Italian spot, Mama Della’s Ristorante and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great Italian dinner! Heck, doesn’t even need to be an Italian dinner. I had their filet and it was delish!!
We had planned on going to City Walk to see a movie and hit up the piano bar but by the time we finished dinner we were stuffed from the great food and drained from the sun all day. So we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel to just relax.
The next morning we slept in before heading back home to catch the one o’clock NFL games and lounge around the house before our next adventure. Luckily, our anniversary weekend wasn’t over quite yet! We went downtown to watch the four o’clock games and pre-game for the Aziz Ansari comedy show. TJ and I love to laugh so we try to catch comedy shows whenever we can. Especially the big acts! We topped the night off with dinner at my one of my favorite low-key sushi places in Orlando, SODO Sushi Bar and Grill. Happy One Year of wedded bliss to us!
