When’s The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?

Hi friends!,

This one will be short and sweet. I got my first ever tattoo! It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for about a year and a half now. I tried to get it done on New Year’s Eve 2016 but the place I had planned on going to wasn’t taking any more walk-in’s and I didn’t have an appointment. I then of course lost my nerve after the day passed.

Today marks the two year anniversary since my dad left us, so it felt fitting to finally get my ass into a tattoo shop! I did a bit of research (aka google and instagram) and found both a shop and artist that really worked for me. Thirty – Six Black Tattoo Shop was way cooler inside than even the pictures revealed. It’s not just a tattoo shop but also a local art gallery. And Tom (my chosen tattoo artist) couldn’t have been a more amazing person to give me my first tattoo! Between my annoying texts all day, and my panic once in the studio, he was kind and reassuring! Definitely check him out if you’re in the market for a tattoo and in the Orlando area!

As you know by now, I’m a bit obsessed with Harry Potter. I already have a blog post on my favorite quote from there but just a refresher: “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”. Harry Potter gave me a lot of great life lessons, but this definitely weighed the most on my heart. When my dad died, it took on even more meaning. He died on August 23 and on September 3 we held his memorial service. Those are the two darkest days I have ever experienced in my thirty-three years. But just like the quote, I must remember the light! My moms birthday is June 23 and my sisters is Novermber 3. So even though 23 and 3 hold darkness in them, they also hold so much light. So for my tattoo I went with roman numerals for both 23 and 3 as well as the 3 stars that appear at the top of all the Harry Potter book pages. It’s a daily reminder to live my life with as much happiness as I can!

I hope you can find the light in whatever darkness you face!
